I’ve noticed that in the Bible there are sometimes warnings against practice of magic and divination. I’m wondering why that is, as there could be several plausible reasons. My thought is that Magic places power in the hands of the user, which may go against some Christian beliefs. The beliefs that may be threatened (obsoleted) by magic include fellowship, sin, God’s law and faith in God. But this is not necessary so, I’m sure it’s possible (even if contradictory) to be both, a devout Christian and Magician.

Thinking it over, the most plausible reason seems to be just the setting of Us against Them. To distinguish organized religion from pagans and practitioners of magic while diminishing the latter, since both are playing in the same field of spirituality. Here’s a quote of one of the translations “Outside the city are the dogs–the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.” (Revelation 22:15)

Ritual Magic is magic that deals with Rituals. Rituals are sequences of meaningful actions for some purpose. Actions are completely or partially predetermined. Rituals can help raise magic power and attain specific effect (cause effect or create). Some rituals are performed once, while others must be repeated at intervals over time in order to be effective. 聽Rituals can be categorized based on purpose, source of power or tradition.
