Loke is a supporting protagonist in the anime/manga Fairy Tail. He is the leader of the 12 Golden Zodiac Keys and is later revealed to be Leo the Lion. He was formerly contracted to an abusive Celestial Spirit Mage named Karen Lilica. He avoided Celestial Spirits wizards at first due to him being one himself. He is currently owned by Lucy Heartfilia and is now always willing to protect and help her in battle.
He is voiced by Daisuke Kisho in Japanese, and Eric Vale in English.
Personality[]
Loke tends to be very flirtatious towards attractive women and was often seen with a troupe of girlfriends. This made him rank in fourth place as The Wizard I'd Like To Be My Boyfriend Rankings of the Sorcerer Magazine. One time he even tried to flirt with Erza Scarlet and almost got himself killed.
Due to his bad experiences in the past with Celestial Spirit wizards due to his abusive contract with Karen Lilica, he would seem to avoid Lucy when she first joined the guild, and even when he tried flirting with her on one occasion, he ended up running away upon realizing that she's a Celestial Wizard.
Though he comes off like he has a superficial and frivolous attitude, he seems to really care about women and does not take kindly for those who abuse or take advantage of women. He is also very loyal to his friends, as shown by being willing to help Lucy without question or hesitation and protecting Aries from Karen's abusive treatment, even being willing to stay in the human world for a long period of time to do so, despite how harmful it is to Celestial Spirits.
History[]
During the time he was known as Leo the Lion, he was contracted with a Celestial Mage at the Blue Pegasus guild named Karen Lilica. She was very abusive towards Aries, often mistreating or hurting her. She even uses her as a shield against attacks. Leo stopped Karen from sentencing Aries to seven days imprisonment in the human world. Due to Karen's abusive and wicked nature, he demanded that the contracts with him and Aries should be terminated and would stay in the human world until she did so.
When staying in the human world, Loke prevented Karen from summoning any other Celestial Spirit for combat, which prevented her from doing any jobs. This caused Karen to make several attempts to persuade, beg, trick and even force Leo to return to the Spirit World. Eventually, Karen's anger escalated to the extent that she even decided to beat him up.
Leo got used to the environment in the human world only after three months. Believing that Karen had been punished enough, he decided to forgive her, though he would see Karen abusing Aries again, he would defend her no matter what. He soon learned that Karen did a job without her Celestial Spirits since Aries wasn't strong enough to protect her, which caused her to get killed by another Celestial Spirit. Due to violating his contract with Karen and causing her to die, he was forbidden from returning to the Spirit World. Soon after, Leo disguised himself as a human, naming himself Loke, and joined the Fairy Tail guild as a mage. Whenever he allowed himself to think about Karen at all, he would distract himself by flirting with ladies.
