INFINITE (인피니트) is a six-member boy group under INFINITE Company. Formed by Woollim Entertainment and originally as seven, they debuted on June 9, 2010 with the mini album First Invasion.

They made their Japanese debut on November 19, 2011 with the single "BTD (Before the Dawn)".

History[ ]

2010: Debut with First Invasion[ ]

INFINITE originally debuted with their first mini album First Invasion on June 9, 2010, with "Come Back Again" serving as the album's title track, while "She's Back" was also used during promotions. [1]

2011: Evolution, Over the Top, Japanese debut[ ]

The group made their first comeback on January 7, 2011 with their second mini album Evolution. They then released their first single album " Inspirit" on March 17.

Their first full-length album Over the Top was released on July 1. The song "Be Mine" was the song that got them their very first-ever music show win on M Countdown, and won two weeks in a row. The repackage edition, Paradise, was released on September 26.

On November 19, the group made their official Japanese debut with the release of their single "BTD (Before the Dawn)".

2012: Return with first concert, Infinitize[ ]

INFINITE returned to the scene with their first concert tour, performing in Seoul between February 11–12 and in Tokyo International Forum on February 25–26. They then held an encore concert, Second Invasion Evolution, on April 1.

On May 15, the group released their third mini album Infinitize, with the song "The Chaser" serving as the title track. It gained them their first triple crown on June 14, and at the end of the year, the song was named the number one K-pop song of the year by Billboard. [2]

2013-2014: New Challenge, first world tour, Season 2, Be Back[ ]

INFINITE made a comeback with their fourth mini album New Challenge on March 21, 2013, with the title track "Man in Love" earning them seven music show program wins.

They released their first Japanese studio album Koi ni Ochiru Toki on June 6, and later their second single album " Destiny" on July 16.

The group began their first world tour One Great Step, beginning on August 9, 2013. The tour consisted of 22 shows in Asia, Europe, North America and Dubai. Their first world tour encore One Great Step Returns was held in Seoul's Olympic Gymnastics Arena on February 28 and March 1, 2014.

On April 10, they released first instrumental album The Origin.

Their second full-length album Season 2 and its repackage Be Back were released on May 21 and July 22, respectively.

2015: Reality, second world tour, For You[ ]

The group released their fifth mini album Reality on July 13. They later on embarked on their second world tour Infinite Effect, with two concerts held in Seoul on August 8–9.

Later, on December 16, the group released their second Japanese full-length For You.

2016-2017: Infinite Only, Air, Hoya's departure[ ]

Between February 20-12, 2016, INFINITE concluded their Infinite Effect world tour. Their first special single " That Summer (Second Story)" was released on July 8 and their first Japanese best album Best of Infinite on August 31.

The group's third Japanese full-length album Air was released on May 24, 2017.

On June 9, INFINITE was in talks of contract renewals with Woollim. [3] It had later been revealed on June 28 that only 6 out of the 7 members renewed their contracts. [4] [5] On August 30, Hoya officially left both the group and the agency after he made the desicion to not renew his exclusive contract. [6]

2018: Top Seed, "Clock"[ ]

Following Hoya's departure, the group returned with their third full-length album Top Seed on January 8, 2018. [7]

On February 13, 2019, INFINITE released their seventh digital single Clock after Sungkyu's enlistment in May 2018. [8]

2019-2022: Members' departure from Woollim[ ]

On August 19, 2019, L announced his departure from Woollim, however stated he will continue with the group when needed. [9]

In 2021, Sung Kyu, Dong Woo and Sung Yeol left Woollim on March 6 [10] and March 31, [11] respectively. However, they still remain members of the group.

On January 24, 2022, Seong Jong left Woollim but will still participate with the group's activities. [12]

On October 7, 2022, Woo Hyun was the last INFINITE member to leave Woollim but will still participate with the group's activities. [13]

2023: INFINITE Company establishment, 13egin[ ]

On May 6, 2023, INFINITE opened new official social media accounts for the group, annnouncing a YouTube broadcast on June 9 to celebrate INFINITE’s 13th debut anniversary with all six members. [14] It was later revealed that leader Sung Kyu had set up INFINITE Company for their upcoming activities. The rights for the trademarks of the group name, their fandom name, and 2017 concert titles were transfered from Woollim to the new company without any conditions or fee for Sung Kyu's birthday. On July 7, a teaser was released for their upcoming comeback on July 31 with their seventh mini album 13egin. [16]

2024: "Flower"[ ]

On May 15, INFINITE unveiled a teaser image, hinting at their upcoming comeback. [17] On May 20, it was revealed that the group will be releasing the digital single " Flower" on June 9 to celebrate their 14th debut anniversary. [18]
