VMware vSphere Replication is an VMware solution for data protection and disaster recovery for all your virtual machines in your environment. VMware vSphere Replication is a hypervisor-based, asynchronous replication solution for vSphere virtual machines. It is fully integrated with VMware vCenter Server and the vSphere Web Client. vSphere Replication delivers flexible, reliable and cost-efficient replication.
You can use vSphere Replication with the vCenter Server Appliance or with a standard vCenter Server installation. You can have a vCenter Server Appliance on one site and a standard vCenter Server installation on the other. With vSphere Replication, you can replicate virtual machines from a source datacenter to a target site quickly and efficiently.
In this series of vSphere Replication we have successfully deployed the vSphere Replication Appliance in our previous post so in this post we will see on how to integrate vCenter Server into vSphere Replication Appliance.
Let’s see How to add vCenter Server in vSphere Replication Appliance:
Step 1:
Once you have deployed the vCenter Server Appliance.
Power On the Appliance. It will take few minutes to startup.
You can access the vSphere Replication Appliance using IP or Hostname with port no 5480.
For e.g.:
https://vr.masteringvmware.com:5480
Login using the root user.
Step 2:
This is the Home page of vSphere Replication Appliance.
Now go to Configuration Page to add vCenter Server.
Step 3:
You will get all the details you just have to enter the password for the user.
Enter the password and click “Save and Restart Service”
Step 4:
Accept the certificate warning.
Step 5:
Now you can see that configuration has been saved successfully and the service is also running.
Now you see in the vSphere web client you will get the vSphere Replication Plugin using which you can monitor and manage the vSphere Replications. If you don’t see the plugin just logout and login to vSphere web client.
That’s it. Till now we have successfully deployed the vSphere Replication Appliance and Added the vCenter Server in vSphere Replication. In Next post we will see on How to add the Target site or the DR Site in the vSphere Replication.
