***** UPDATE, again. I have finally mastered this thread. I love it. It is very important that it be a direct feed into your machine. I put it on the upright pin of my machine and it spools off perfectly. I know when I finish up using what I currently have I will purchase again. Included is a picture of the Gold thread used. It flowed so well off of my machine I did not have to stand over it. I used a metallic needle and slowed the machine down by 1*** I have to update my review. I would love to give this metallic thread a 5 star review but can't as I think it will be misleading. This thread is just beautiful to look at. Has a super metallic sheen. On the downside, it is kinky (not in a fun way) It is very difficult to use. When I use it for an embroidery project I sit and guide the thread because of the kinks. If the kinks get to the machine then the thread breaks, When the thread keeps breaking then I get really mad. I purchased this entire set and have used about 8 of the colors. Pretty much the same deal with all the thread. I have to sit there and keep my hands on the thread

I guess what I am saying, if you are new to using metallic thread then try a different kind. There are some nice metallics out there. I will buy this thread again because of the great looking finish. (I will post a picture later). The colors are outstanding and it is a wonderful deal.

I did not contact the company but probably should. They may have recommendations for the best use.

I love metallic thread and use it very often for my machine embroidery projects. This thread can be difficult to use if you cannot adjust the tensions on your machine. It tends to shred.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous thread, stitches out beautifully once you adjust your machine correctly.

So I got this wild hair this year to use metallic thread for my embroidery, thinking how much fun would it be to have my holiday items all shiny. What I didn't expect was the frustration I would have at using it. I broke 4 needles, and a few yards of thread only to find out I had my machine set wrong for metallic thread... corrected that and whamo everything sews out like a charm.. only the occasional hiccup, which happens with normal embroidery thread as well.

I have a PE 770, which I left the settings at the factory set of Tension 0 and max speed of 650, threaded the machine and promptly broke 3 needles, with tangled up threads. Here is what I learned curtsy of another review that was a machine and project life saver!

I changed the tension to 4 (as a starting point.. turns out I didn't need to adjust it more, that was the perfect setting, your machine might need some adjustment.. just tinker with the tension setting a bit to see what your machine will require.)
I slipped a thread net
New ThreadNanny 10 Yards of Thread Net for Sewing Embroidery Spools  over my spool, I trimmed it a bit so it fit nicely.
I slid it onto the thread holder and used the smallest thread cap for my machine.
Loaded my design and babysat the stitch out, leaving it on max speed

It stitched out my design wonderfully with only 2 breaks in my thread, which I recovered from and continued stitching. The lesser tension allows the thread to slide through the machine much easier, the thread net, keeps it from falling off the spool and tangling and the small cap guides the thread gently through. Results were a beautiful design stitched onto a towel. I absolutely love this high quality metallic thread. Perseverance and babysitting the machine paid off, as did reading the reviews! You will love this thread and the results from your stitch-outs too!

The machine embroidery metallic threads from Thread Nanny are wonderful. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I have purchased other metallic threads , some costing 4-5 times more per spool then these and I think these are much better! You do have to make some adjustments on your machine to help the Metallic thread run smoothly. I decreased my tension, used a metafil needle and reduced the running speed on my machine. The colors are beautiful and the price is the best I have ever seen. I love these threads!

I love this thread! I use it in my Brother se1900 with no problems as long as I don't use too thin of a font. Otherwise it's hard to see the beauty of the thread. Even with the tension lowered you can see the inner parts of the embroidery thread but it's fine, I just won't use thin fonts. The thread seems really strong to me. I tried to pop it with my hand (can't remember why) but it couldn't so I has to use cutters to cut the thread. That reassured me that the thread is actually strong. Anyway, I love this thread. Very beautiful!
