It’s amazing how much difference a new tool can make. I just recently picked up a 2021 Macbook Pro to replace my old 2015 Macbook Pro and man have I been missing out. It’s crazy to think that a few years back my ‘15 was handling just fine and I was able edit photo and video with ease. But the whole past year I’ve been struggling with running out of disk space, numerous lags and crashes with Adobe software, and the tedious task of having to run Clean My Mac several times on the daily just to get through the day. I grew to dread and literally gave up even considering doing video work because of my laptop.

But now I am ALIVE once again, thanks to the long overdue upgrade. I know you’re here because of the car, but I just can’t help express the great relief I’m feeling and also excitement I have for finally being able to get sh!t done in a timely manner.

Anywho, Wekfest San Jose is this weekend and that means this week is officially “Wekfest prep” week. Everyone knows my LS430 rarely leaves the garage unless there’s a show coming up. Wekfest is one of the few shows I actually participate in as it holds a bit of nostalgia for me (maybe I’ll explain more once I do the official Wekfest post). I didn’t have to do much this time around except for some routine maintenance and a thorough cleaning. After cleaning it a bit, I looked up and saw it was nearly magic hour and grabbed my camera and headed towards the sunset. I figured this would be my first chance to edit photos on the new MacBae and I also wanted to test out recording a short video clip that resembles a “live photo.”

There’s literally nothing interesting in Natomas so I guess a parking lot will have to do since the sun is dippin’ fast. 90% of the time you’ll catch me with my shooting with my 35mm 1.4 Art lens but as of late I’ve been trying to change up my “look” and have been opting for my 100mm.

I have to say that I really missed driving this thing. I don’t drive it much because it’s simply the most impractically built car with its excessive camber, hairline wheel to fender fitment, and horrible gas mileage. I just can’t afford to wreck this thing lol. Too much time and money had already been invested to get it to where she’s at, the exact form and factor I envisioned. Every single time I bring this thing out somebody asks me “how does it handle,” and I always reply “like shit.” But in reality this “broken” looking car handles quite decently. The drive is surprisingly smooth and not bouncy with the air suspension and stretched tires. I hadn’t driven the LS since January of this year and I guess you can say it was a breath of fresh air doing so today.

And just like that I’ve experienced two “breath of fresh airs” in one day. I’ve realized that my LS is also a tool in some sorts. A “tool” is defined as “a device or implement used to carry out a particular function,” and the LS has been functioning as a channel for my expression and also a guinea pig for my photography. Utilizing both these things today has truly motivated me to get out and do more with the brand. I guess you can say that today I learned that it’s important to upgrade where necessary, but it is equally important to not forget the tools you already have. And also equally important to GO OUT and USE ‘EM.

Here’s a cheers to the upcoming Wekfest show in San Jose! Catch us at the PURE VIP x PURE 4x4 both -hope to see you all there!
