Tristan C The best and most realistic survival show out there (within the limits of safety, of course). I've watched all seasons and each have something different to offer. Definitely worth a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Wayne H I enjoy the survival portion of the show. And I'm sure that being isolated can eventually take it's toll. But the comments from the contestants about missing their families really jerks my chain. I did 12 months on a 1 mile wide by 2 mile long island at the end of the Aleution Islands while in the Air Force. Did not have to find my food or water and I was surrounded by others, but I had to not see my wife and 1 year old daughter for an entire year. These people on Alone amazed me at their inability to be without their loved ones for more than a few weeks. I'm certain I would miss my family but I believe my mind would definitely be more on how I was going to drink, eat, and sleep. Once those are achieved then you can miss the family, but with the basics taken care of all you have to do is just last 100 days (or even shorter if everyone else taps out). Were those people ever in danger from predatory animals? Have they ever been thirsty/hungry for days? Were they ever allowed to inadvertently ingest something that would make them hallucinate? To top it off, not only did they have to survive, they had to be their own camera crew as well! I've always wanted the people from Life Below Zero to be contestants in Alone. With all these survival shows; things get better to watch after about 7 days of surviving, because that's about the time it takes for the novelty of being on camera wears off, and survival mode kicks in. Things I can't stand though - when they use their family to tap out- when they try doing skits - and when women use the "I'm doing it for women" card. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/21 Full Review Audience Member A really interesting experiment, but what it comes down to is... "No Food, No Life." rather than a test to find out what happens when they are truly alone. It was engaging from the very start, watching participants with unique personalities cope with tough situations differently. It felt like a raw and accentuated version of what happens in our everyday life. I enjoyed the authenticity. How they included the emotional outbursts to the slow moments where nothing happens. If I were to improve one thing, I would send the contestants off to places in warmer climates where there will be food abundant most of the time. Every season of the show seems to come down to how much they can tolerate hunger or how much fat they have on their bodies to begin with. It would simply be less predictable and a true test to their skills / personhood, instead of how much they can starve... I would want to see them leave for other reasons than hunger, given that they are all hunting / fishing experts. But overall I want to thank the show for making me be thankful for always having a roof on top of my head, for not having to be afraid of being eaten alive in my sleep and for my boyfriend' s cooking that is probably better than eating limpets everyday. 馃槀 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
