- 1. ACTORS
- 2. NIALL ARMSTRONG
The character Niall will be playing is the bassist of the band. I have
chosen Niall because he is a confident person who has a passion for
music. He has experience in acting from last years media A-level
work and so will understand what I’m asking from him when I talk
about stage direction and what emotion to portray at a specific type
of the song. Their personality is upbeat and happy with a relaxed
outlook on how he lives his life. This blends in with the aesthetic of
the band and the song that is played because they song’s tempo
changes between upbeat and saddening. He can bring their
personality to the role because this is also the personality I have
crafted for the bassist as a bass guitarist has a very chilled and
relaxed personality stereotypically. Niall has a strong physical
appearance as he is very tall and broad. He also has the distinct
feature of a beard which makes him stand out; however due to the
positioning of the band members he will not take away the attention
from the lead singer who will be in the centre of the band’s set up.
- 3. ALFIE MILLAR
The character Alfie will be playing (Guitarist) is very enclosed and comes
across as depressing and secluded and only focuses on the playing of his
instrument, his facial expression will be emotionless and dull to make the
performance of the singer the main focus when the full band is shown within a
frame. This also links to the tone of the song as the subject is depressing and
the pace is easy and sad. My actor is suitable for this role because Alfie’s face
tends to be expressionless naturally, with a very relaxed personality which is
exactly what I need so that the eccentric lead singer is the centre of attention,
this shows they can bring their natural personality to the role and portray them
well. Alfie has a strong physical and distinct appearance as he is tall, broad and
has distinctively dark eyes; this will help him stand out without taking all the
attention away from the lead singer.
- 4. ASHLEY TAYLOR
Ashley will be playing the ego fuelled lead singer of The Smiths
‘Morrissey’ who is known for being the centre of attention where
possible. Ashley is an extremely eccentric and creative person who
has the capability to stand out in a crowd which makes him suitable
for this role. The lead singer has had very little experience in acting
however I am confident this will not be a problem for Ashley as he
is a confident and loud spoken person who has the tendency to
speak his mind. He will be able to bring his personality to the role
naturally by dancing whilst listening to music in different ways than
what is redeemed as popular are trendy. Ashley’s physical
appearance is skinny and average sized, however his mannerisms
and the way in which he moves and dances makes him stand out
in comparison to the rest of the band, who will be very still and
wont be expressing any emotion, unlike Ashley because he will be
using facial expression and dance to address how the character is
feeling at a specific part of the song. Ashley has the ability to
confidently perform the song and own the stage.
- 5. SAM WRIGHT
Sam Wright will be playing the role of the drummer which will be
a secluded and quiet character. Sam is a very confident person,
unless surrounded by people he is not familiar with. This is
useful because Sam is not familiar with the other actors, and so
will give the secluded image for the role I am aiming for. In
addition, Sam is a good worker and will generally understand
what I ask of him despite having no knowledge of media
terminology. Sam has little experience in being filmed as he has
featured in a-level opening sequences for a number of students
and managed this very well. Sam is fairly short which is a
positive effect on the video because he will not take away the
attention towards the lead singer by being taller or any more
physically built than the singer. Sam used to play the drums
when he was younger, meaning he will come across
convincingly as the character he is portraying, as well as
appearing more realistic to the viewer.
- 6. ALBERT MCVAY
Albert will be portraying the character of protagonist 1, the
character in which the narrative will be centred around.
Albert is a confident and eccentric character who has had
experience in acting before as he has taken performing
arts at a-level at his sixth form, making him a perfect
candidate for the character I have created. Protagonist 1 is
a quiet character at the beginning of the narrative, who’s
personality eventually shines through and becomes a
much more confident person. This will not be a difficult
character to portray for Albert due to the fact he has acted
before, and has a very confident personality anyway which
will come naturally to him when playing the role.
- 7. CADEN SHERRARD
Caden will be playing the character protagonist 2. Caden
has had experience in acting before which will mean he is
confident when being filmed. Protagonist 2 acts as the
abusive father of protagonist 1 and so must appear as an
older figure than both protagonists 1&3. Caden has a beard
which means his physical appearance makes him look older
than his actual age, which is useful considering the role
must appear considerably older than the other characters,
both of which look fairly young for their age, further
differentiating the difference in portrayed ages from the
actors.
- 8. HARRY MATHEWS
Harry will be playing the character of protagonist 3,who
will act as a friend to protagonist 1. Harry has had
experience in acting before in previous a-level projects
and will be confident and understanding in my stage
directions and what I generally ask of him during the
filming of the music video. He is a confident person in
which the character also has to be, and so his
personality will play a very natural part in the role,
making the narrative appear as more believable and
natural to the audience.
