The Digital World is home to countless Digimon of every shape and size. There are small blobs of living slime and even whole skeletons that not only can keep themselves together but also maintain sentience. Yes, there's no limit to what the creatures that call the Digital World home can look like, but out of all of them, there's one species that always manages to stand out. The Dragons.
Also known as the Dramon type, or Dragon Man depending on how human they look, the Dragon Digimon are some of the most diverse and powerful species of Digimon created. No two are alike, except for the two Coredramon, and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses.
10 Dorugoramon
Dorumon made its debut in Digital Monster X-Evolution as the "poster child" for the X-Antibody. It was also this same Digimon who digivolved into one of the strongest Digimon ever conceived. Alphamon. However, due to the black and gold knight's popularity, many forget that Dorumon has an alternate Mega evolution. One whose power is comparable to that of the Aloof Hermit.
Dorugoramon is a Digimon said to have been formed from the "Daydream of a DigiCore". It's an imaginary Digimon whose very data is comparable to the legendary beast known as the Dragon. Because of this power, Dorugoramon is stated to be the avatar of Destruction and an incarnation of The Final Enemy.
9 Magnadramon
While Digimon has never been very consistent on what a Digimon can turn into, the Gatomon line has always had some strange digivolutions. While Gatomon evolving into Angewomon left many people confused, people were downright baffled when Angewomon digivolved into a large, pink-furred dragon. Confusion aside, Magnadramon proved itself to be a fearsome Digimon in its few appearances in the anime.
This Holy Dragon Digimon is part of both the Miracle Four and the Four Great Dragons of the Digital World. Very few have seen this Digimon, leaving Magnadramon's existence to be shrouded in mystery. However, records state that this Digimon appeared when a great evil force was generated within the Digital World.
8 Paledramon
As one of the new Digimon released, Paledramon set itself apart by being the first dragon Digimon with control over ice. This Digimon's body, much like the rest in its line, is covered in thick, icy plates that serve as surprisingly durable armor. Its wings, also made out of ice, allow this Digimon to fly at incredible speeds.
The ice surrounding its body is so cold that even drastic temperture changes don't cause it to melt, unlike its previous form Bulucomon. That said, it still will melt when facing hot Digimon like Meramon. While this weakness to fire can be detrimental to a Paledramon's health, this Digimon would gladly risk its life to help others.
7 Veemon
What's not to love about this plucky, blue dragon? While its appearance isn't stereotypically draconic, it still bears the coveted title of "Dragon". This Digimon can't breathe fire or manipulate the elements like many other Dragon Digimon, but that doesn't make this little rookie any less powerful.
This species is said to have been the descendants of a species of Digimon that existed during the Genesis of the Digital World. Veemon are one of the few species of Digimon capable of Armor digivolving. Additionally, it's the only species that is compatible with every Digi-Egg. While it may be small, it would be a mistake to underestimate the Veemon species.
6 Paildramon
Paildramon is the result of a DNA digivolution between ExVeemon and Stingmon. While its appearance isn't exactly draconic, the power Paildramon holds is said to be that of the mythical beast, giving it the title of Dragon. Its claws and armor resemble those of Stingmon while its main body resembles ExVeemon.
The two cannons that rest on Paildramon's hips allow this Dragon Man Digimon to excel in long-range combat. These weapons fire energy bullets with the force of a cannon but with the speed of a machine gun. When forced into close quarters, Paildramon can utilize both its claws and the retractable lances hidden in its gauntlets.
5 Examon
While this Digimon is classified as one of the Royal Knights, Examon is very much a Dragon Digimon. In fact, Examon is said to stand above all Dragon Digimon in both power and stature. This Digimon's size is so immense that very few tools could actually render it completely. It's even said that Examon's wings act independently of its will, allowing this Dragon Digimon to put all of its focus on battling.
The lance it wields, Ambrose, doubles as a high-caliber rifle. The "bullets" that this weapon fires are filled with viruses that inflict a myriad of viruses upon those unlucky enough to incur this dragon's wrath. Needless to say, this Digimon is frightening to face in combat and many see it as a blessing that a Digmon like this serves as a protector.
4 Imperialdramon Dragon Mode
Imperialdramon Dragon Mode, or DM for short, is a Digimon that is said to have existed during ancient times. The overwhelming power that this Digimon holds is said to be so immense that it can't control it as it is. According to myth, this Digimon can only gain control over its power by entering its "Fighter Mode", but this form is all but a legend.
The cannon on its back is called the Positron Laser and is strong enough to decimate anything in its path. Depending on the upbringing of the Digimon, Imperialdramon DM could be either a protector or a destroyer. Additionally, Imperialdramon DM is the only Digimon to digivolve from a DNA digivoultion.
3 Azulongmon
The vast majority of the series' dragons reflect Western-style dragons as opposed to Eastern; however the Eastern Dragon-inspired Digimon have far more intricate and captivating designs. This is especially true when looking at Azulongmon.
Inspired by the Azure Dragon of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations, Azulongmon's body appears to be made of energy with its wings, chains, mask, and beard being the only exceptions. It's one of the four Digimon Sovereigns, also designed around the Four Symbols, and is said to only help those who prove their strength to it.
2 Megidramon
They say everyone loves a villain, and, well, this villainous Digimon definitely left an impression. The Digimon Tamers anime was known for its rather visceral scenes and dark subject matter, but seeing the naive and happy-go-lucky Guilmon turn into the monstrous Dragon that is Megidramon was possibly one of the anime's darkest moments.
Megidramon is the most wicked of the Dragon Digimon in the Digital World. While it is one of the Four Great Dragons, its evil nature is so prevalent that it's constantly at odds with the other three. It's said that this Digimon's power is sealed through unknown means and, should it ever gain its full might, great harm will be inflicted upon the Digital World.
1 WarGreymon
WarGreymon is possibly one of the most iconic Mega-level Digimon in the series, and for good reason. Aside from being one of the first Digimon to reach the "final" stage of digivolution in the anime, the ultimate form of the Greymon species has become synonymous with courage and valor within the Digital World. In mythos, only members of the Greymon species that awaken to their heroic purpose will digivolve into WarGreymon.
The golden armor that surrounds this Dragon Man Digimon is made of the incredibly dense material known as Chrome Digizoid and its claws are known as the Dramon Destroyers. Said claws are specially designed to, as the name suggests, destroy Dramon, or Dragon, type Digimon. This coupled with its Brave Shield makes WarGreymon one of the toughest dragons around.
